Com os dois últimos festivais de foto aqui em Nova York, decidi, outra vez, de me cadastrar como voluntária. No pasado, sempre foi uma otima maneira de se involver, conhecer gente nova e óbvio- entrar de graça! Hoje comecei ajudando com a instalação do exposição no ‘Latin Amerian Pavillian‘ curado por Adriana Teresa, fundadora de Visura Magazine. Fui apresentada a dois jovens fotógrafos guatemaltecos que fazem parte da exposição, super talentosos Clara de Tezanos and Juan José Estrada. Estávamos desembalado os quadros da Clara da serie dela “Todas Somos Marias” e com cada imagem fiquei mais e mais impressionada. Segue algumas fotos da serie:

Artists Statement: All Woman are Maria (Todos Somos Maria) is a documentation of women, what they are, what they have been and their potential. The series explores the relationship between these so called “society” young women and Maria, the Virgin. A relationship based on a series of social and emotional exchanges between privacy and an external image, which are origined from dependence and reality. Each woman is photographed in her environment—such as the house she lives in, the room where she sleeps and the car she drives—in order to create scenes that combine metaphors of feminine lives into a story through daily important events in their lives. The representation of these ideals create tension in each woman’s life. Through this series one can examine the historically accepted ideal feminine and the reality of being a woman in a Latin society.
